SOUTHSIDE

Sam Hunt

The years since the Georgia-born singer’s
2014 debut album Montevallo have hardly
been barren for fans, not least given his
release in 2017 of the massive hit “Body Like
a Back Road”. That infectious country-pop
number features on SOUTHSIDE, which also
showcases his adept grasp of the rhythms of
hip-hop and R&B.

FIVE FACTS:

  1. Sam Lowry Hunt was born in Cedartown,
    Georgia, on December 8, 1984.

  2. He played football in his high school and
college years, and once attempted to pursue
a professional sports career before his 2014
    signing with MCA Nashville.

  3. Prior to his solo career, he was credited
with writing singles for Kenny Chesney, Keith
Urban, Reba McEntire and Billy Currington.

  4. Hunt has cited Brad Paisley, Ginuwine and
Alice Cooper among his musical influences.

  5. He has said of the new album: “I think if
you asked somebody that really knows me
well which record they heard more of me on, I
would bet that those people would say, ‘I could
hear you, the person that I know, in those
songs, even more so than the first record.’”
