The Pennsylvania metalcore purveyors are
back with an album almost inadvertently
based on the theme of what rhythm guitarist
Brent Rambler has described as “the Good
Samaritan helping someone, or reaching out
in a time of need.” It’s another steady addition
to the discography of one of the most
consistent bands in modern metal.
FIVE FACTS:
- August Burns Red was formed in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania in March 2003,
when all of its members were at high school. - The group released its first EP, Looks
Fragile After All, in 2004. - The current lineup consists of Rambler,
lead guitarist John Benjamin “JB” Brubaker,
drummer Matt Greiner, lead vocalist Jake
Luhrs, and bassist Dustin Davidson. - Three singles have already been released
from the new album: “Defender”, “Bones”
and “Paramount”. - Guardians has received widely positive
reviews, with Exclaim!’s Addison Herron-
Wheeler commenting: “While this record may
not necessarily break new ground in the sense
that it sounds like something we’ve never
heard before, they definitely showed that they
are still more than capable of making a solid
record and keeping fans happy.”
