- Set the source point for the healing. The healing brush requires
you to designate a specific source point so that you can clone
from one portion of an image to another. To set the source
point, press the Alt (or Option) key and click at the spot below
the mark indicated by the crosshairs in Figure 4-23. I chose
this source because it has a similar texture (slightly blurry) to
the area we’re trying to retouch.

- Heal the dark spot on the side of her cheek. With your brush
set to 20 pixels (or if you’re lazy, the default 19 pixels) and a
maximum hardness to avoid edge errors, paint over the small
mark on the side of her face. You can watch the source point
move as you paint so that you can make sure you don’t stray
out of the desirable area.

Beginning with CS4, Photoshop started displaying a preview of the
source area as you paint, which dramatically helps you align a source to a
destination. To see just the source without the brush circle around it, press
the Caps Lock key.
