- Type the name “Dark gradient” and click OK. Next, you
see the Gradient Fill dialog box.
- Open the gradient color. The gradient color you see in the Gra-
dient Fill dialog box is based on the foreground color, which
we set to black in the last step, just before creating the gradient
fill layer. I want you to edit it slightly, so click the preview, as
shown in Figure 5-31, to open the Gradient Editor dialog box. - Change the gradient stop color and angle. The Gradient Edi-
tor dialog box allows you to choose from preset gradients or
customize your own. We’re going to alter the default gradient
by changing the color from black to a dark purple:
- Double-click the icon below and on the far left of the gradi-
ent preview, as shown in Figure 5-32. This is what’s known
as a stop, designating one end of the gradient continuum. - In the Select Stop Color version of the familiar color picker
dialog box, type the values H: 285, S: 30, and B: 15. Click
OK. - Repeat the first two bulleted steps for the stop color on the
far right side, below the gradient preview as well. - Click OK to exit the Gradient Editor.
- Back in the Gradient Fill dialog box, change the Angle
to 91 degrees so the gradient is slightly offset. Click OK.
