The result is a 4-pixel stroke that starts solid white and fades
off into the infinite universe on the left, as you can see under
the turquoise arrow in Figure 5-37.
- Add an adjustment layer to brighten the glassware. The mar-
tini glasses look a little faded at this point, but we can brighten
them by adding another adjustment layer. Alt-click (Option-
click) the icon at the bottom of the Layers panel and choose
Brightness/Contrast. Name the layer “Brighten,” and click
OK. In the Adjustments panel, move the Brightness slider to
a value of 50. - Move the Brighten layer. Because of the Brighten layer’s posi-
tion in the layer stack, the layer is brightening everything under
it, rather than just the glasses. We could drag it downward until
it was just above the Glass 1 layer, but the Invert layer would
then invert the brightening as well. Instead, move the Brighten
layer so that it sits just above the Invert layer. The result is the
shiny glassware you see in Figure 5-38.
