- Jump the selection to a new layer. Press Ctrl+Alt+J (-Option-
J) to jump the jumper to a new layer. Name the layer “Jumping
Puppet” in the New Layer dialog box and click OK. Now that
you’ve created the layer, turn off its visibility temporarily by
clicking its , as I did in Figure 8-23. We’ll work on filling in
the Sky & Grass layer first in the next few steps. - Reload the selection. We have two jumpers on two different
layers, and we want to remove the bottom one so he won’t show
through when we modify the Jumping Puppet layer. Return
to the Channels panel and once again Ctrl-click (-click) the
Mask channel to load it as a selection. Then return to the Lay-
ers panel for good measure. - Create some wiggle room around the selection. You want to be
sure you’re capturing all the pixels associated with our jumper,
so give yourself a safety zone. Choose Select→Modify→Expand,
and set Expand By to 20 pixels. Click OK. You’ll see the selec-
tion line move outward, as in Figure 8-24.
