Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-on-One

(やまだぃちぅ) #1

  1. Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Our goal is to
turn the colored area of her lips red, so Hue/Saturation will
come in handy. If the Adjustments panel isn’t open, press F10
(if you loaded dekeKeys as instructed in the Preface). Hold
down the Alt key (Option key) and click the icon in the
Adjustments panel (second row, second icon). Name your
new layer “Cherry red” and press OK.

By default, when you create an adjustment layer, Photoshop automatically
creates what it thinks is a handy, ready-to-use layer mask. The mask is
harmless, but oftentimes you don’t need it and it clutters up your Layers
panel. To turn off this behavior, you have to go to the main Adjustments
panel (the one from which you can choose the various types of adjustments),
click the at the upper-right corner of the panel, and turn off Add Mask
by Default. If Photoshop gave you an automatic mask before I told you
how to turn it off, simply drag that empty mask to the trash can at the
bottom of the Layers panel.

  1. Redden the lips. In the Adjustments panel, which now dis-
plays the Hue/Saturation sliders, set the Hue to –10 to redden
the color, and then move the Saturation slider all the way to
    80. This results, as you can see in Figure 10-6, in some awe-
    somely radioactive red lips.
