Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-on-One

Figure 11-13 shows me in the process of creating the last guide.
Note that these values assume your rulers are set to pixels (as
we established when setting preferences in Step 10 of “One-on-
One Installation and Setup,” page xxii). If your rulers are set to
some other unit of measurement, right-click (or Control-click)
either ruler and choose Pixels.

Here’s a helpful tip: As you drag, press the Shift key to snap the guideline
to the tiny tick marks in the ruler (also known as ruler increments). If
you drop a guideline at the wrong location, you can move it by pressing
Ctrl (or ) to get the move tool and then dragging the guide. To delete
a guide, Ctrl-drag (or -drag) it back into the ruler.

  1. Scale the text block to fit within the guides. We’re finished with
the rulers, so press Ctrl+R (-R) to hide them. With the type
tool selected and some portion of the body text block still ac-
tive (if the words the hard way are still highlighted, that’s fine),
move the cursor over the upper-left corner handle. The cursor
should change to a bidirectional arrow, indicating that it’s ready
to scale. Drag the handle until it snaps to the intersection of
the topmost and far-left guides. Similarly, drag the lower-right
corner handle until it snaps to the far-right guideline, as shown
in Figure 11-14 on the facing page.
