between 1731 and 1740.

. Cathedral of
SS Peter and Paul
This magnificent cathedral
was designed by Domenico
Trezzini in 1712. Within is
the iconos tasis, a masterpiece
of gilded woodcarvings,
designed by Ivan Zarudnyy
and executed by Moscow
craftsmen in the 1720s.


St Peter’s Gate
Completed in 1718, this ornate
Baroque structure features
the Romanov double eagle with
an emblem of St George and
the dragon.

Bastion

Engineer’s House
This building, dating from
1748–9, houses temporary
exhibitions of artifacts used in
everyday life in St Petersburg
before the Revolution.

The Boat House is now a ticket
office and souvenir shop.

The Grand Ducal burial vault is the last
resting place of several grand dukes
shot by the Bolsheviks in 1919 and of
Grand Duke Vladimir who died in exile.
