Despite the need for a ferry to access
the northern shore, Konstanz is the best
Bodensee base. A day can be spent
exploring historic Konstanz and the
nearby garden island of Mainau, with
the opt ion of swim ming before
heading back to Konstanz. The high-
lights of the north shore can be covered
in a day and include prehistoric
dwellings, a Baroque church, the
fairy-tale town of Meersburg, and the
intriguing Zeppelin Museum in
