BACK ROADS GREAT BRITAIN

Through the Chilterns

This drive begins just 40 km (25 miles) away – but a whole
world – from the turmoil of central London, in the pretty
village of Chalfont St Giles, and takes a route through the
Chiltern Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty. Through necessity, some stretches run along main
roads, but there are also lovely country lanes with no
significant traffic. The proposed stops along the
way are varied – grand, quaint, beautiful – while
the destination town of Henley offers
plenty to absorb the visitor for a day.
