Set in a lovely 17th-century house decorated in historical style, this family-run restaurant offers “home-cooked”
Belgian cuisine. The traditional fare is met with a close attachment to local produce – smoked duck, trout, terrine
de foie gras, snails, rabbit. Located 2 km (1 mile) south of Annevoie. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

A handsome 19th-century shopfront of stone and red brick in the high street is the preface to an attractive and
welcoming restaurant. The cooking is grounded in French cuisine, but with some Asian touches. A comfortable
modern dining room decorated with old portrait photographs. Closed on Tuesdays, and for Wednesday lunch.

A large maison de maître of 1885, gently modernized, is the setting for light French gourmet cooking and
cuisine de terroir. There is a specially designed menu for children called An Introduction to Gastronomy.
Summer dining in a large garden by the River Meuse. Closed on Sunday evenings, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Located 2 km (1 mile) east of Floreffe, Mas des Cigales (Farmstead of the Cicadas) is a southern French reference
which shines through the excellent cooking. The decor of the dining rooms is similarly Provençale – sunny yellows
and warm reds. Lunch is the main focus: open for the evening only on Fridays and Saturdays; closed Wednesdays.

A small, family-run restaurant with tables put out in the garden during summer. On offer are salads with
shrimp or smoked duck, omelettes and steaks, all at very reasonable prices. The decor is simple and modern.
Open 8:30am–3pm Monday–Saturday, and till late on Friday evenings. Closed Sundays.

A large wooden chalet at the edge of a forest, 3 km (2 miles) north of the university town. This has been
the tranquil scene for fine Italian and French cooking since 1992. The classic dishes include pasta, carpaccio,

Located 4 km (2 miles) southeast of Maredsous in one of Wallonia’s prettiest villages is La Fermette – a farmhouse
restaurant serving first-class French cuisine to its many dedicated fans. Meals can be finished with a platter of
Falaën cheeses. Lovely rural garden. Closed on Monday evenings and Tuesdays.

A charming restaurant with a courtyard garden, that serves meals of home-cooked pasta, savoury crèpes, quiches and
salads. Open all day. The companion restaurant Le Père Gourmandin is open for lunch only, serving organic sandwiches,
stuffed baked potatoes, pasta and quiches. Both are closed on evenings from Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays.

This small, Michelin-starred restaurant at the foot of Namur’s Citadelle has a narrow, bright and modern dining

A thoroughly seductive, ultramodern restaurant. The shell is 17th-century, but dining spaces are decorated in
cream and chocolate with bare wood floors and soft lighting. The cooking is imaginative, springing off a solid
French foundation. The fixed-price lunch menu is a bargain. Tables also on the terrace at the front.
