The main venue for rock and
pop in the country is Rockhal
in Esch-sur-Alzette. Its two-hall
complex hosts major inter-
national acts. Smaller concerts
are held in the capital at Den
Atelier. The biggest rock festi-
val is the one-day Rock-A-Field,
held near Roeser, on the last
Sunday in June. Its frontline
billing has become increasingly
impressive over the years.
Luxembourg City has music
festivals running over much
of the year. Printemps Musical-
Festival de Luxembourg
pre sents a broad mix, from
jazz to world music. Summer
in the City (mid-June to mid-
September) offers free open-air
jazz and blues concerts. This
has two multi-screen cinemas
showing the latest international
offerings – Ciné Utopia and
Utopolis. Film buffs should
look out for the programme
of arthouse and classic movies
presented by Cinématèque de
