Whenwastheclubfounded?

Ourpre-1939recordshavebeenlostso

wearenotsurehowoldtheclubactuallyis.

However,theclubwasresurrectedin 1948

andhascontinuedwithoutfurtherinterruption.

Whatdoesyourcluboffertonew

members?

Prospectivenewmemberscanattendtwo

meetingsbeforecommittingtomembership.If

wehavethreeormorenewpeoplewithlimited

photographicexperience,weruna beginners’

programmethatincludesthebasicsof camera

functionsandcomposition.Wealsonow

incorporatemorepracticaleveningsintoour

programmeforanextrasmallcharge,and

thesecovera varietyof subjectsincluding

Photoshop training and macro photography.

Describea typicalclubmeeting.

Wemeetat 7.30pmfora start 15 minutes

later.Wenormallyhavea breakat around

9pmforrefreshmentsandtheall-important

socialising.We aim to conclude our meetings

by10pm.

Doyouinviteguestspeakers?

Weusuallyhavea guestspeakerevery

monthandtheseeveningsareverypopular.

Occasionally,wemanagetopersuadeone

ormoreof ourmemberstotalkabouttheir

photographyandthisencourages more

peopletoparticipate.

Domemberscompetein regional

ornationalcompetitions?

Weareinvolvedin inter-clubcompetitions

in ourarea,butwealsoorganiseourown

competitioncalledtheMaldonChallenge

Trophy,andthisinvolvesaround 12 to 14

clubs.Thishasbeenrunningformorethan

60 yearsandincludes colour, monochrome

anddigitalimages.

Howmanymembersdoyouhave?

Wecurrentlyhave 30 membersandarekeen

toexpandthisviaa variedprogramme, while

retainingourfriendlyatmosphere.

Areanyresidentialtripsoroutings

planned?

Wenormallyhavethreeorfourevening

photographysessionsin thesummermonths

whentheclubdoesn’tmeet.Weusuallyend

upat a pubforrefreshment!Otherwise,our

membersarrangetheirownoutingstofurther
