There’s another exercise that Interaction Associates uses suc-
cessfully in the corporate setting when they want to “warm up”
the room. Used in conjunction with vision work (i.e., creating
inspiring visions for their teams), participants are asked to bring
an object from their desks or one that is on their person that has
special personal value to them. Usually people bring family pic-
tures, religious icons, or cherished objects like a grandfather’s watch
or a child’s lock of hair. When given the opportunity to talk about
the things that have special meaning in their lives, the participants
come alive, and the room really does warm up. People feel more
connected. The visions that participants craft are always richer and
deeper because the participants have tapped into their hearts and
remembered what is truly important to them.
