you out with some dialogue, here is an example of a mes-
sage you can leave the FSBO on their answering machine:


Agent:“Hi, this is [Your Name] with [Your Company] Re-
alty. I’m calling about the property for sale on Bel-
mont. I would like some information about the
property to give to my buyers. You can reach me at
555-5555, again that’s 555-5555. I look forward to
hearing from you. Have a great day.”

Notice that I said the phone number twice. You should
always do this if you are leaving your number on an an-
swering machine. Either your phone or their phone might
start to get static and distort one or two of your numbers,
then you’ll definitely never hear back from them. Here’s
how the dialogue may go when a FSBO returns your call
later that evening:


Seller:“Hi, you left me a message on my phone request-
ing information about my home for sale.”
Agent:“Yes, thank you for returning my call. I called a
fewproperties for sale. Can you tell me the address
of the home you’re selling?”
S:“123 Belmont.”
A:“Right, well, I have a few questions about your prop-
erty.”
[Then you can go into the routine that we just discussed
that involves questioning the seller to feel out their
character and motivations.]
