Moon phase
by Peter Kent
Nikon D7200, 600mm, 1/1250sec
at f/6.3, ISO 1600
Peter is a retired engineer from
Aberdeenshire and he took this image
of the moon from his garden. As he
says, ‘My ambition is to shoot every
phase of the moon in sequence,
probably impossible given the vagaries
of Scottish weather.’ He takes a
bracketed series of shots, which he
combines in Aurora HDR to achieve
the final output. Chosen by Geoff

Stichwort by Sophia Spurgin
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, 100mm, 1/160sec
at f/5.6, ISO 100
Sophia says, ‘I am a retired teacher and have found that
this gives me plenty of time to indulge in my photography.
I love many different types including macro, wildlife,
landscapes and portraits. These Stitchwort were grown in a
container so I could bring them into my conservatory as it
is difficult to take them when it is windy. As the flower is
white, it helps to shade the flower but not the background
to even out the tones. A texture was added in post-
processing.’ChosenbyAndyWestlake,TechnicalEditor
