magazine,MOJO. Describingtheshot,Tomsays,
‘PhotographersforMOJOmagazineenjoya rare
degreeof freedomandtrustwithwhatis usuallyan
openbrief.Thisallowsustocaptureourown
experiencewithveryhigh-profilemusicians.
Howeverwhenphotographingfamoussingers,we
areoftenpainfullyawareof howmanytimesthe
sitterhas,well,sat.I liketoacknowledgethisand
askedCharles(akaBlackFrancis)toshowmethe
levelof frustrationphotoshootscangenerate.He
offeredupthisperfectgestureof exasperation,and
the image ran as the lead portrait for the feature.’
