About the Author
Tracy DiSabato-Aust has worked in the horticulture industry for over 40 years, earning inter-
national acclaim as one of America’s best-known and most knowledgeable garden writers and
designers. She is the author of the best-selling books The Well-Designed Mixed Garden and 50
High-Impact, Low-Care Garden Plants, also published by Timber Press.
A dynamic speaker, Tracy is a frequent guest on national television and radio gardening
shows and is in great demand on the lecture circuit both nationally and internationally. Her
speaking venues have included England’s Royal Horticultural Society Garden, Wisley; The
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; The English Gardening School; the University of Oxford botanical
gardens; and venues in Argentina, Uruguay, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
Tracy has contributed to or been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers includ-
ing Fine Gardening, Horticulture, Garden Design, Real Simple, The New York Times, The Telegraph
(London), and the National Post (Toronto).
When not pursuing all things plant related, Tracy is racing triathlons. She and her husband
Jim and son Zach proudly represent Team USA at the world level. She is an ITU World Triathlon
Age-Group Champion (Budapest) and ITU World Triathlon Age-Group Champion Runner-up
(Beijing), as well as a three-time National Champion and nine-time All-American triathlete.
