than dawn and dusk) and night time. The
latter makes sense,asyou can sayany
motion between midnight and 7amshould
trigger alow-level reddish light to help people
find their waywithout waking themup too
much and ruining their night vision. Yo ucan
also set atime before afurther change
happens, whether that’s turning offthe
lights after 10 minutes or returning them
to their previous state.

Usefully,the HueMotion Sensor
incorporates alight sensor,unlike the £29
Hive alternative.Asthere’s no ability to check
the solar position with any of the Labs
Recipes forthe Motion Sensor,there’s stillno
chance of replicating LIFX’s killer feature of
decoupling power and colour. But the light
sensor could be useful to tell lights to switch
on when you open acupboard.
The Hue Motion Sensor also incorporates
athermometer,soyou could monitor ababy’s
nd turn your lights blue or red if the
mperature gets outside your preferred
limits. Yo u’ll need theTemperature
Monitor Labs Formula forthis.
Again, integrating motion
sensors intoother lighting mixes
(or just avoiding having to use the
Hue Labs interface) is possible
through IFTTT.Just select your
sensor as the ‘This’ and select an
outcome as the ‘That’.IFTTT has lots
of pre-made recipes you can use
mmediately, but we had to search for
ue specifically,asitwasn’t listed in
estandard set of choices.

⬆You can use the Hue Motion Sensor to turn on
lights when it gets dark, but without acheck on
