WorkonFrance’slargestcathedralstartedaround1220.
ItwasbuilttohousetheheadofStJohntheBaptist,brought
backfromtheCrusadesin1206.Within 50 years,thecathedral,
amasterpieceofGothicarchitecture,wascomplete.Restored
inthe1850sbyViollet-le-Duc,andhavingmiraculously
survivedtwoworldwars,Amiens’scathedralisfamousfor
itsstatuesandreliefs,whichincludescenesfromthelifeof
StFirminandtheLastJudgement,theinspirationforJohn
Ruskin’sTheBibleofAmiensin1884.
