What the Dead
Men Say
Trivium
The Orlando heavy metallers have attracted
widespread critical acclaim for their ninth
studio album, after a change in approach that
saw bassist and clean backing vocalist Paolo
Gregoletto handle many of the lyrics and
much of the music. Traditionally, the band’s
material was largely written by guitarist and
lead vocalist Matt Heafy.
FIVE FACTS:
- Trivium was formed in Florida in 1999.
- The band’s present recording members
are Heafy, Gregoletto, guitarist and unclean
backing vocalist Corey Beaulieu, and
drummer Alex Bent. - The song “Betrayer” earned the group a
Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal
Performance in 2019. - The album’s title track was inspired by
Philip K. Dick’s science fiction novella of
the same name. - Heafy has said of the album’s sound: “We’ve
found a really great place to exist in this
world. We love melodic death metal, we love
death and black metal, and we love hardcore.
What the Dead Men Say is everything we
do on one record.”
