Nutella Fondue
fondue is one of my favorite things to make for a cocktail party. people love to pop by the
fondue pot and dip, and it takes no time at all to prepare. Just remember to replenish the
items meant for dipping from time to time!
¾ cup (180 ml) heavy cream
1 cup (175 g) chopped milk
chocolate
1 cup (260 g) nutella or other
chocolate-hazelnut spread
2 tablespoons (30 ml) frangelico
fruit, marshmallows, and cookies,
for dipping
Heat the cream in a small saucepan until just barely boiling. Remove from
the heat, add the chopped milk chocolate, and stir until melted. Add the
Nutella and Frangelico and stir to combine. Transfer to a fondue pot to
keep warm and serve with the fruit, marshmallows, and cookies for dipping.
Yield: 6 servings
Chef’s Tip
My Fluffy Marshmallows on page 74 are a great accompaniment to this
chocolate-hazelnut heaven.
Kir Royale
•Soy-free •Dairy-free •Nut-free
everyone needs something sparkly on new year’s eve! This classic Champagne cocktail
is splashed with crème de cassis, a sweet, jammy black currant liqueur.
1 teaspoon crème de cassis
⅔ cup (160 ml) sparkling wine or
Champagne (enough to fill your
champagne flute about three-
fourths full)
Maraschino-less Manhattan
•Soy-free •Dairy-free •Nut-free
This cocktail originated in the 1800s. Shaken, not stirred, a classic Manhattan is also free
of plastic-y artificial maraschino cherries. Some people prefer this drink over ice, so don’t
strain it if that is your preference.
¼ cup (60 ml) rye whiskey
1 tablespoon (15 ml) dry vermouth
1 or 2 dashes bitters (angostura
bitters will do, but orange bitters
are preferred)
1 strip orange zest (a “twist” of
orange)
