O


ver his nearly eight decades of life, Valencia, Spain-
born artist Royo has created a style almost immedi-
ately recognizable as Royo. While the artist’s themes and
subject matter have changed, shifted and evolved over the
years, his skillful use of brushstrokes and unique imple-
mentation of color have remained pillars in his art career. 
The artist, who often returns again and again to
equine subject matter and depictions of women, has

an upcoming exhibition at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art
in St. Augustine, Florida, opening March 20 with
a special artist’s reception. Royo’s latest body of
work captures the dazzling nature of both the horse
and the female form—among other subjects like
fruits and florals—pairing the two together in ways
that complement the innate energy of each entity.
