n February 1998, four Florida artists
founded the American Impressionist
Society with the goal of promoting
impressionism through workshops,
classes, annual exhibitions and more.
As part of that advancement and appre-
ciation, the group has been hosting a
national juried exhibition for its members
for more than 20 years. The event, which
takes place in the fall, is complemented
by the recent Small Works Showcase in
the spring or summer.
Now in its fourth year, this juried exhi-
bition allows members of the organiza-
tion to present smaller scale works in anational show. The paintings measure 12
by 16 inches and under, allowing collec-
tors to find gems at more affordable price
points. This year’s exhibition, happening
at R.S. Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg,
Texas, from March 6 to April 4, will
include 160 juried pieces accompanied by
15 paintings by AIS Masters and Officers.
On opening night, Friday, March 6,
the gallery will host a reception and
awards presentation from 6 to 8 p.m.
During this event, AIS Master Nancy
Bush, who is serving as the judge of
awards, will announce her choices for an
array of prizes. In conjunction with the
exhibition, AIS hosts a number of educa-
tional programs, including the special
“All Members” Paintout and Wet Wall
Exhibit/Competition, from March 4 to 7.
To put a cap on the exhibition, the host
gallery will present a closing reception
during Fredericksburg’s First Friday
event on April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.Lasting Impressions
