“I thought that in VR it was kind of
cool how, like, a little bit of movement
with your head is interesting if
objects are small. If you’re in a giant
setting and there’s like a huge
dragon... okay, it’s kind of cool. It’s
cool, in a different way,” says
Lyngeled on the relationship between
the game’s style and you being a big
ol’ ghost giant. “If you have a tiny
object in front of you, moving your
head, you can sort of look into a
window and look in through the
other windows. So it’s kind of cool to
have something small. And then it
kind of comes naturally thinking like
could it be like a puppet set? Yes,
that kind of fits into how you feel. You
kind of have that relationship that
youhadwithtoys.AndI justthinkit’s
nicewhensomethinglookslikeit’s
notbuiltperfectly.It’sjustmore
relaxingin a way,youknow?”

theteamtomakeGhostGiant?“I
thinkoneofthecoolestthingsabout
VRis notactuallyjusttheVR
headset,it is reallythehands– that
youcangrabthings,youcanpull
thingsup.It’svery,verynatural,”
saysLyngeled.“Butin a VRgameI
seea lotofpeoplewhodon’tusually
playgamesgoingintoa VRgame,
andit justfeelsverynaturalfor
themtoactuallygrabsomething,
picksomethingup.”
Beingthetitularghostgiantallows
youtohavea broadperspectiveon
everythinghappeningin frontofyou,
andreachingoutandtouchingthings
feelsincrediblynatural.“Whenyou
talktoa lotofpeople,theyhaven’t
hadthefullexperience.I thinka lotof
peoplehaven’treallyactuallytried
thegoodVRtitlesyet,”says

Talking with Japanese website J-Wave
recently, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima
commented that “many studios lag behind
the planned release date. Death Stranding
is slightly out of the initial plan, but not much
