ON THE ROAD
Holding down o brings up the
crafting wheel, allowing you to create
supplies on the hoof. If you do your
due diligence whenever you arrive in a
new area, you won’t lack something

familiar with it pays off. Just as
we think we’ve got the hang of
following Boozer’s lead, Leon, who’s
ahead of him, begins shooting and
hurling Molotov cocktails back in our
general direction. We swerve to avoid
the resulting fireball, then have to
steer clear of all the rusted-out
vehicles littered across the deserted
road on the backswing.
You’ve got to treat your prized set
of wheels right as it is so core to the
experience. You can store extra ammo
in your saddle bags, quick save from
the seat, and make a speedy retreat
should you need to. However, there
are also no other vehicle options
available out here in the Pacific
Northwest’s high desert. You can’t
just plough through the underbrush,
hoping for the best because, for one,
your bike will need periodic repairs as
it is. For two, fuel is scarce in the
apocalypse and you have to scavenge

DAYS GONE

to heal Deacon, at the very least. This
is key, as even a lone Freaker can
polish off a sizeable chunk of your
health with just one well-placed
swipe. That said, if you’re quiet and
quick you can sneak up behind plenty
of enemies and take them out with
one-hit stealth kills on w... and if
they spot you, well, you’re close
enough then to take them out with a
few whacks of your two-by-four.
If this happens, nearby Freakers
may well be content to chow down

The Rippers are a death cult who practice scarification
and are entirely too enthusiastic for the end times.

HUMANS

As well as Freakers, there are
uninfected survivors too... many of
whom, driven to desperation, are at
odds with you. Whether they’re
scouting out your safe house or
trying to nick your bike, you must
remain vigilant as there could be an
ambush around any corner.
