Died on March 7, 2020 at the age of
85 in Natick following a period of
declining health.
She was born on March 30, 1934 in
Cambridge to William Patrick Hogan
and Mary Margaret (Daly) Hogan.
She attended St. Mary’s
Elementary School in Cambridge and
Massachusetts Hospital School in
Canton, and graduated from Fisher
Junior College and Framingham State
University. She married Daniel R.
Laughlin in 1956 at the Copley Plaza
Hotel in Boston.
Patsy was devoted to helping others.
At age 15, she contracted poliomyelitis
and was thereafter paralyzed from the
waist down. After raising her own 7
children, she returned to college for
a Bachelor’s degree at the age of 53
and embarked on a career serving the
disability community. She was honored
in 1998 by the Mass. State Senate and
the Mass. Rehabilitation Commission
for her service. In her spare time, Patsy
enjoyed nothing better than clipping
coupons and stockpiled a supply of
household goods purchased with triple
coupons on her sunporch for her adult
children.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, her brothers William
and Paul, and sister Mary Jo. She is
survived by her husband of 63 years,
Daniel R. Laughlin, brothers John and
Kenneth and her children, Kathleen
and Lawrence Mone of Hoboken, NJ;
Elaine Laughlin of Providence, RI;
Julia Laughlin of Falmouth; Edward
and Cleo Laughlin of Lowell; Gregory
Laughlin of Las Vegas, NV; Nancy and
JennetteBanksLaughlinofLowell;and
Jean and John Davis of Pittsboro, NC;
as well as 8 grandchildren, Benjamin
Robinson, Emily Mone, John Curci,
Katherine Robinson, Bryanna Laughlin,
Irene Mone, Hannah Laughlin, William
Laughlin,andmanynephewsand
nieces.

Alongtime resident of Needham and
West Harwich, Nancy died peacefully
at Deutsches Altenheim on March 10.
She was the only child of the late Albert
Smith and Katherine Tierney Smith
of Dorchester and was raised by her
paternal Aunt Lillian Maguire. Nancy
was a gifted student who received a
full scholarship to Regis College upon
graduation from Mount St. Joseph
Academy. She graduated from Regis
College in 1952. A 35-year employee of
IBM, Nancy was a longtime executive
at a time when women were valued
more highly in the kitchen than in
the boardroom. While she was not
a slave to it, Nancy was a dedicated
follower of fashion and a highly
accomplished woman of singular
style and grace. She is survived by
many dear cousins and close friends
who cherish her memory and will
miss her. Visitation will be held in the

OLSEN, Mary F. (Joyce)
Age 73, of Westborough, MA died on
March 7, 2020 at the UMASS Medical
Center in Worcester, MA, after a brief
but sudden illness. She was the daugh-
ter of the late Stephen Joyce I. and
Loretta Niland Joyce who immigrated
from County Galway, Ireland and settled
in Norwood, MA. It was in the town of
Norwood where Mary met her beloved
husband of 52 years Ralph F. Olsen. She
is survived by her son Ralph F. Olsen, II
of Grafton, MA and her daughter Laura
A. Olsen of Sandwich, MA, her sister,
Ann (Joyce) Roth, of Norwood, MA and
she was predeceased by her brother, Ste-
phen Joyce, II of Weston, CT. She also
was the loving aunt and godmother to
Stephanie (Roth) Wilkens and her three
children Caroline, Claire and Carter of
West Roxbury, MA, Frank Roth, Jr. of
Waltham, MA, Catherine and Elizabeth
Pingree of Chicago, Illinois. She leaves
behind many friends (too many to list)
but her dearest, closest and lifelong
friend was Barbara (O’Beirne) Pingree
of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mary’s first love was her family to
whom she was fully devoted through-
out her life. She is a graduate of St.
Catherine’s of Norwood, St. Clare’s High
School in West Roxbury and she com-
pleted her studies at Boston University.
While raising her children in Westbor-
ough, she discovered her talent and love
for high-end real estate. She worked
in realty for over thirty years and was
recognized for excellence and top sales
throughout New England while work-
ing at Coldwell Banker.
Mary traveled extensively through-
out the world from Europe to Africa,
Asia and beyond. She had a passion
for art, literature, culture and history.
Her travel experiences influenced her
exquisite taste and love for all things
beautiful.
She was a true New Englander at
heart and loved the state of Maine. She
had many wonderful times living in the
seaside town of Cape Elizabeth with her
family prior to moving to Westborough
and returned frequently.

RODERICK, William J. “Bill”
Jr.
Age 57, a resident of Tyngsborough,
passed away on Saturday, March 7,
2020, at the Brigham and Women’s
Hospital after a long illness. He was the
beloved husband of Karen L. (Lawren-
son) Roderick, with whom he shared 29
years of marriage. Born in Cambridge
on August 28, 1962, he was the son
of William J. and Janet M. (Draper)
Roderick, Sr. of Tyngsborough. He was
educated in the Billerica school system
and was a graduate of Shawsheen
Valley Regional Technical High School.
He then attended UMass Lowell for
Engineering.
Bill founded Cable Designs and
Manufacturing of Lowell in 1991.
When “CDM” as it was known was
subsequently sold, he remained as
President of the new entity, Segue
Manufacturing in Lowell. His combined
passion and tenure at both businesses
was 26 years and he shared that experi-
ence with many of his longtime beloved
employees. He was currently employed
by TopFlight Technologies of Malden as
the Vice President of Global Markets.
Bill was an avid football enthusiast
and had served many years as President
for both the Tyngsboro Youth Football
and Central Mass Youth Football As-
sociations. Bill was a longtime member
of the Billerica Lodge of Elks.
Bill’s family and his profession were
his biggest passions. In his spare time
he enjoyed making memories with
family and his many friends, who were
like family. He loved traveling to Aruba,
attending Patriots Games, and above
all spending time at his homes on
Thompson Lake, Oxford, Maine - Titos
and soda (no fruit) in hand.
Surviving him in addition to his
loving wife and parents are his two chil-
dren, Paige E. Roderick and Jackson W.
Roderick, both of Tyngsborough; a sis-
ter and brother-in-law, Julie M. Cincotti
and her husband Michael of Billerica;
his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Patricia and James Irwin of Windham,
NH, Stephen and Patricia Lawrenson of
Wilmington, MA, Ronald and Andrea
Lawrenson of Wilmington, MA, Janet
and Richard Poirier of Sandown, NH
and Gerald and Elizabeth Lawrenson

law of the late Charles and Elizabeth
