here in Australia,
Objects in Space is
a unique, if old-school,
space trading simulator.
At first it seems very
simple, but then it sucks
you in with its incredible
depth and surprising story
elements. The gameplay
itself unfolds like a point-
and-click adventure, but
also like a management
game. Depending on
what kind of ship you are
piloting, you can move
through different areas so
you can access panels that
give you vital information.
Switching between these
rooms is how you manage
all the systems that keep
your spaceship performing
optimally, as well as doingrepairs. These is a lot to
think about, and balancing
everything while also
dealing with random
things that happen
in space –like pirates,
anomalies, low resources
and so forth – is addictive.
You can also land at space
stations to find jobs and
sell or buy items that can
make you a better trader.
The visual style is very
basic and it can take a
while to get used to this
style of play, but it is
worth it.We love a good
puzzle game
and this little retro
indie title is really
cool. Similar to Tetris, it
involves treasure chests
falling down from above.
You then to pick these up
and move them around
so that they don’t pile too
high. If any stack reaches
the top for too long, it’s
game over. But luckilyif you pick up a chest,
you pick up everything
piled on top of it, too. As
well as coloured chests,
coloured keys also fall
down. If you match the
colour of a key with a
chest, it will make both
disappear. Where it gets
cool is that any chest of
the same colour touching
that chest will also
disappear. This allowsyou to pile up chests of
the same colour to try
and create big combos.
Adding to the fun are
random weapon and item
drops that allow you take
out groups of chests, plus
evil blocks that appear
at random to throw out
your strategy. It’s simple
gameplay, but a stack
of fun, especially with
friends in multiplayer.
