GHOST IN A JAR:

A MAN’S

You are out metal detecting...
in a cemetery... and find
a cool empty jar. You take
it home but, horror, it’s
haunted. What to do? Well
one man caught in this
situation put his ‘ghost in
a jar’ up for sale on eBay
and sold it for a whopping
$50,922. Word is, though,
the winning bidder did not
pay. Darn jar must have been
cursed too!

Most people sell their old clothes or stuff
they’ve made on eBay but some sellers think
bigger picture. One Briton
living in Australia thought
bigger picture than that.
Ian Usher was so fed
up with his life that he
decided to put the whole
lot up for auction on eBay
after splitting up with his
wife. The auction included
his house and its contents,
car, job, motorcycle, jet ski
and friends. He pocketed
just over $200,000 and got
a fresh start!

Got an imaginary friend?
Wish you had some more
pocket money? Well, you
might be on to something
there. A UK man sold off
his imaginary friend ‘Jon’
on eBay for more than
$3000. He said that, at
27 years of age, he felt
he was outgrowing his
childhood buddy. Along
with the invisible friend
(who was pictured on eBay
and viewable only by those
with a great imagination),
the buyer got a list of their
new pals’ likes and dislikes.
Handy!

Ever thought how much that
Cornflake or Nutri-Grain looks
like a rabbit, your mum or an alien? Chris
Doyle did. In December 2004 he sold a single
piece of Nutri-Grain on eBay for $1035. It had
a resemblance to
the character E.T
from the Steven
Spielberg movie.
Not bad for a box
of cereal that cost
under $10.

A Brazilian company claimed to have
invented the first ever UFO detector.
Rather than present their invention to
the media and experts as an historical
breakthrough which could revolutionise
the world as we know it, they decided
to stick it on eBay. A buyer did fall for it
though and forked out $135.03 to buy
it. It is not known whether the item has
worked yet but since there hasn’t been
any reports of contact with E.T on the
news lately we’re guessing it didn’t.

If you think the aliens from Star Trek
are freaky wait till you hear this... When
legendary Star Trek actor William Shatner
passed a kidney stone he asked the hospital if
he could keep it. Rather than throw the ugly
item in the medical waste bin, Will put it on
eBay to raise money for charity. The Golden
Palace casino bid $75,000 to beam it up. Now
that kind of thinking is what made him captain
material!
