Interview

doll is worth. Thus auctions on Instagram
have become the most convenient way
of selling for me. I am very grateful to
my followers and buyers for such a high
price for my work, which gives me the
opportunity to continue to create my dolls.

Your designs are diverse and
interesting, how do you pick a
character to crochet?
I get most of my inspiration from social
media. Pinterest in particular is a great
source of inspiration or me. Street styles,
fashion in Japan or traditional styles – these
are just some channels for my ideas. I fell
into inspiration on the street just twice,
and both times it was the same girl! She
was really lovely and I made a doll inspired
by one of her looks. I always love seeing
people look cool and stylish, it brings me
joy that I try to bring into my dolls.

Talk us through your
design process
It usually happens that, in the process of
working on a doll, I come up with an idea
for a new one! To be honest, this makes
my work harder because it is diffi cult for
me to concentrate on the current project.

I can’t think of anything else but a new
idea and I want to start creating it as soon
as possible! However, I can completely
immerse myself on the current doll to get
that fi nished before I start properly planning
the next design. I always make only one doll
at a time.

First, I imagine how the girl should be, then
I look for inspiration online, in particular for
details, by searching different keywords
like ‘curly hair and glasses,’ or ‘midi-dress,’
or ‘grunge girl.’ I then save a lot of pictures
and start sketching. I print out my reference
image and start picking yarn colours.
