DRAG AND DROP
Open the two
images you want to use
in Photoshop. Grab the
Move Tool and drag the
image you’d like to cut
out over to the tab of the
other image, then down
and in to copy it over. If it
needs resizing, press Cmd/
Ctrl+T then transform and
position the image so that
it fits. Press Return to
apply your changes.

02

OPEN SELECT
AND MASK
Go to Select > Select And
Mask. In the options to
the right, set View: Onion
Skin and Transparency
to 75%. This gives you
a view of both layers,
making it easier to judge
the blend. Next, grab
the Quick Selection Tool
from the toolbar on the
left, and begin painting
over the subject.

03

PERFECT THE
SELECTION
Continue painting over
the subject with the
Quick Selection Tool
until the whole area is
selected. The tool may
occasionally go wrong. If it
picks up unwanted parts
of the subject’s original
backdrop, hold Alt and
paint to subtract those
areas. Change the view to
On Layers for a final check.
