Maytheyscantheseaforcetaceans

    andNorwayduringthesummer
    months.Thehugepredatorscome
    tohuntgreyandharbourseals(the
    latterhavepupsinmidsummer,
    soareparticularlyvulnerable)and
    sometimesventureamazinglyclose
    toshore.Eachindividualorcacan
    berecognisedbythepalepatch,or
    ‘saddle’,behinditsdorsalfin,which
    mayitselfbeartelltalenicks or scars.

tohome.InKent,thenaturalist
observed“humblebees”inforensic
detail, becoming one of the first

tonoticethattheypatrolthesame
linearforagingroutesoverand
over.Probablyourmostdistinctive
widespreadspeciesis thered-tailed,
whichlovesclover,dandelion, daisy
andthistleflowers.
