body.Around 60 speciesofglass
squidhavebeenidentifiedsofar- thisisa juvenileBathothauma
lyrommaoftheAtlanticandPacific.
Asa developinglarva,it livesin
surfacewaters,driftingamongthe
planktonwithunimaginablyvast
numbersofotherlarvaebelonging
toeverythingfromfishtomarine
worms.Whenthelarvamatures,
theadultsquidsinksintoink-black
water,sometimes living 2km down.
