introduced to ass-kicking additions.
Jab L3 to perform a roll and avoid
gunfire. A click of R3 breaks out your
agent’s mid-air boosters to add that
extra distance to street-sized leaps,
while a devastating ground pound and
long-ranged flying fist ensure agents
who focus on melee kills can be just
as deadly as firearm specialists.
Like the original, the structure of
Crackdown 3 revolves around toppling
a conglomerate by eliminating a series
of kingpins. The Cruella De Vil-aping
Elizabeth Niemand is your ultimate
target, but before you can take down

you must find special DNA orbs spread
throughout the world.
Regardless of which flavour of agent
you plump for, Crackdown’s trademark
brand of superpowered agility and
feats of Spider-Man-shaming strength
remain. As was the case with the
2007 original, few games can match
Jaxon and pals when it comes to
empowering movement. Leaping
between buildings is a joy that never
erodes, with the hunt for the game’s
750 green Agility Orbs providing an
irresistible breadcrumb trail.


Roll with it
Agents have also learned new abilities
since the last game. As you upgrade


the corporate titan, you must first kill
her captains and lieutenants.
By and large, you achieve your
murderous goals by blowing the hell
out of everything in your agent’s
20/20 sight. Terra Nova has three main
factions, separated into logistics,
security and industry divisions. Once
you eliminate each group’s two
lieutenants, you can then strike at the
captain. Not that your agent can slip
into these evildoers’ strongholds with
a piece of fibre wire and a sharp suit.
Sleek Agent 47 assassinations are
very much off the menu.
Each one of your Terra Nova targets
must first be lured into a duel before
they can be bumped off. To unlock
this showdown, your agent must make
them vulnerable by destroying their
criminal real estate. Roxy the frowny-
faced AI system has a clutch of
monorail stations guarded by androids
that must be cleared out, Reza Khan’s
massive drills need to be blown to
bits, while Liv Sorensen’s Enforcer
locations have to be liberated. While
the objectives vary, confronting
these bosses normally revolves
around either messing up enemies
or property, which can make the
campaign a repetitive grind at times.
At least Crackdown 3 encourages
you to experiment when it comes to
free-form anarchy. How you choose
to eliminate bad guys affects how
