Bright idea
We love the brightly coloured macaws in this project. If you like them
too, why not stitch one of them on its own to create a card or gift tag to
accompany the stitched elephant if you are giving it as a gift?
How to work a
French knot
This design contains French knots in
a variety of thread colours. It's easy
to create one – simply thread your
needle with one strand of the correct
thread shade, and bring it up through
the fabric where you want the knot to
form. Hold the thread taut in your left
hand and wrap the needle around the
thread twice. Now push the needle
back down through the fabric, close
to where it came up. Finally, you need
to gently pull the needle and thread
through the fabric, leaving the neat
little French knot sitting on top.
Elephant picture
We chose a vibrant
red frame for our
elephant, but you
could pick out any
of the other bright
shades for an equally
striking mount
