Sunny courtyard
1
Find the centre of your canvas
and your stitching, then use a
pin to push through both. Trim your
fabric, leaving a 5cm (2in) border
around the edge of the frame, taking
into account the depth of the canvas.
2
Staple the fabric at the back of
the canvas, starting at the centre
of each side and then working your
way towards the corners (keeping
the fabric taut at all times).
3
To finish the corners, grip your
stitched piece and pull it gently
towards the opposite corner. This will
create two flaps of fabric on either
side. Fold each of these in towards
the central point and staple in place
to finish off neatly.
How make up the canvas
“Get your summer
stitching off to a
great start with
this pretty scene.
It would make a
wonderful gift for
a friend or loved
one with a passion
for gardening.”

Cat card
If you know a cat-lover, why not stitch this
feline friend for them? This corner section,
measuring around 58x58 stitches, is the
perfect size for a greetings card or mini
picture, and won't take too long to finish.
Delightful doorways
Brightly painted, ornately decorated doors
from around the world is a subject that
appeals to many photographers. I can
see why – I love sketching and painting
beautiful doors. They're so fascinating and
can bring a splash of colour to any scene.
