By default, the Ekster Parliament is a smart wallet insofar as it’s a sharp,
understated and cleverly designed leather container for cards, cash and
other flat things. The real smartness in the technological sense comes
from the Chipolo tracking card, which slips neatly into wherever you want
to stash it in the wallet. This card can not only track your wallet via your
phone, but also sound an alarm if you’ve narrowed the search down but
need a final hint.
The tracking card is solar-powered, but designed to run on very little
power, so rather than having to wave your open wallet in the direction of
the sun every day, you can get by on the momentary exposure to light that
might occur in use. The tracking card is also compatible with Alexa and
Google Assistant, so if you find yourself loudly asking nobody in particular
where your wallet has gone, there’s a chance it will tell you itself.
Storing credit cards and so on in the Parliament is achieved using a rigid
pocket with a push button in the base to poke them up. It’s a feature that
disrupts the classical appearance of the wallet, yet it’s so practical it makes
you wonder why other wallets don’t have such a feature.

Taking a monitor off its safe and comfy foot and attaching it to an
arm is one of those upgrades that can set off alarm bells. There are
points of potential failure at every turn, but the Invision PC Monitor
Arm deftly manages to avoid them all. At the base, the Invision
has a clamp that can be extended to attach to desks of almost any
conceivable level of chunkiness.
At the other end is a VESA monitor attachment. Many monitors
have this pattern for alternative mountings, although some don’t,
and lacking this mounting should not be taken as justification for
drilling holes in the back of your monitor. It just wasn’t meant to be.
The arm itself is surprisingly easy and comfortable to position, even
when weighed down by a monitor, and once it’s positioned, it stays
put for as long as you want it.
Getting the arm perfectly placed can take some trial and error, but
the range of motion is good. On a practical level, installation is best
viewed as a two-person job, as it involves screwing big, awkward
weighty objects together. Overall, though, the Invision Monitor Arm
is worth the stress, particularly if you’re looking to set up a second
monitor and don’t want to lose much desktop space.
