Albuquerque keeps gaining
ground as a go-to city for the
entertainment industry, and
as a creative epicenter. Earlier
this year, it repeated at the
top of MovieMaker’s list of the
Best Place to Live and Work
as a MovieMaker. “Our efforts
are paying off. Albuquerque is
the place to be if you are in the
film, TV and digital media in-
dustry,” says mayor Tim Keller.
“With good local jobs and busi-
ness partnerships, the arrival
of major production studios
like Netflix and NBC Universal,
and growing independent film
production, Albuquerque is a
national hub for film, and we’re
going to keep building this mo-
mentum in the years to come.”
In 2019, Albuquerque welcomed
Angelina Jolie, filming
Those Who Wish Me Dead,
Tom Hanks for Universal’s Bios,
and Robert DeNiro, Morgan
Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones
for The Comeback Trail. And of
course there’s Better Call Saul,
which we’re obsessing over
even as we type this.
AUSTIN
FILM OFFICE
The capital of Texas has no
shortage of personality. Local
filmmakers include Chelsea
Hernandez, Richard Linklater,
Robert Rodriguez, and of
course, Just Keep Livin’ him-
self, Matthew McConaughey.
What attracts such unique
voices? Austin is perfect for on-
location filmmaking. It’s sur-
rounded by Americana small
towns, hill country, waterways,
farms and ranches. The city’s
seasoned, professional crews
welcome projects of all sizes
and types. And the infrastruc-
ture is in place for filmmaking,
including over a dozen studio
spaces and equipment suppli-
ers. And when filming is done,
there is, of course, not-to-miss
Tex-Mex, BBQ and live music
every night of the week.
