BUTTONHOLE BAND
Using 4mm needles and C,
with RS facing, pick up and knit
116[116:120:120:124:124] sts evenly up
entire right front opening edge, from
cast-on edge to top of neckband section.
Beg with row 2, work in rib as given for
cast-on edge of Body for 3 rows, ending
with a WS row.
Row 4 (RS): Rib 5[5:4:4:6:6], yrn,
work 2 tog (to make a buttonhole), rib
13[13:14:14:14:14]; rep from
6 more times,
yrn, work 2tog (to make 8th buttonhole),
rib 4[4:2:2:4:4].
Work in rib for a further 3 rows,
ending with a WS row.
Cast off in rib.
TO FINISH
Do not steam press.
Join cast-off sts at underarms.
Sew on buttons.
Pin out sweater to measurements given,
cover with a clean damp cloth and leave
to dry naturally.

6mm and 7mm needles
6mm circular needle
Stitch markers.

approximate.
TENSION
18 sts and 26 rows to 10cm over rev st st
using 7mm needles.
Cable patt 1: Each 5-st patt rep meas 2cm
(¾in) wide, 26 rows meas 10cm using 7mm
needles.
Cable patt 2: Each 18-st patt rep meas
8cm (3¼in) wide, 26 rows meas 10cm using
7mm needles.
Use larger or smaller needles if necessary
to obtain correct tension.
ABBREVIATIONS
C6F = sl next 3 sts to cn and hold at front
of work, k3, k3 from cn
C6B = sl next 3 sts to cn and hold at back
of work, k3, k3 from cn
C3F = put RH needle in front of 1st and
2nd sts on LH needle and k the 3rd st,
then k the 1st and 2nd sts, slip all 3 sts off
the needle together
C3B = put RH behind the 1st st on LH
