STUNNING NEW DEVICE
Whilst the 2016 iPhone SE shared a design with
the iPhone 5, the second-generation SE takes
major inspiration from the iPhone 8, released
in 2017. Featuring a generous 4.7-inch display
and Apple’s standard bezels on the top and
bottom of the device, it’s clearly a budget
phone, but for the vast majority of consumers
who’ve held onto their older iPhone 6, iPhone
7, or iPhone 8, an upgrade to the SE 2 should
still feel like an occasion. Smartphones have
grown in size in recent years, and the new SE
is considerably bigger than its predecessor,
despite being the smallest phone in Apple’s
2020 lineup. The device sports a strong all-
glass body that uses Apple’s unique seven-layer
ink process to add colors like silver, black, and
red, which results in rich depth of color and a
premium feel over the original iPhone 8. Cases
are optional. And for those who purchase a
Product(RED) iPhone SE, expect an even better
deal, as Apple has confirmed it will donate a
percentage of proceeds to the coronavirus
appeal during the crisis.
As on the iPhone 8, the side of the iPhone
SE features a mute and volume button, the
front features Touch ID rather than the more
expensive Face ID, and the right-hand side
has a sleep and wake button. On the bottom
of the divide, you’ll find a Lightning port and
speaker holes, but there’s no headphone jack;
Apple recommends buying a pair of AirPods or
using a Lighting adapter, which isn’t included as
