This shouldn’t require
anything more than a
trip to the Registry – the
PS/2 port functionality is disabled
by default on most machines
because they’re largely redundant
these days. If you want to use them,
try the following workaround.
Press [Win] + [R], type “regedit”
and hit [Enter], click Yes when
prompted. Now navigate to the
following Registry key(ortypeit
into the Address barinRegistry
Editor (without thequotemarks):
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentControlSet\Services\
i8042prt”
Look for the Startvalueinthe
right-hand pane – it’sprobablyset
to 3, which is Load onDemand.
Change this value to1 – System,
which ensures the driverloads
when your PC starts– andreboot,
at which point yourPS/2
peripherals should nowbevisible.Hardware
