High-Resolution Infrared Spectral Imaging
McPherson dispersive spectrometers
measure and tune specific wavelengths
of light. They are delivered with diffrac-
tion gratings selected for your application.
Grating groove density and optimum blaze
wavelengths range from ultraviolet and
visible wavelengths of 0.2 μm–20 μm long-wave infrared (LWIR).
Gold, silver, and other optical coatings enhance performance in the
IR. These spectrometers also provide ample, accessible space and a
mechanically robust platform for mounting IR arrays, increasing util-
ity for spectroscopy and imaging applications in chemistry, biology,
aerospace, and defense.

Animal Venom Toxin Antibodies
Antibodies targeting various snake and spider toxins are now com-
mercially available in newly engineered formats, providing valuable
research tools for scientists worldwide striving to produce better
antivenom treatments. Originally developed by the laboratory of An-
dreas Hougaard Laustsen at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU),
the antibodies target cytotoxins and phospholipases A2 from African
cobras, latrotoxin from widow spiders, and myotoxin II from lance-
head vipers. Under the partnership with DTU, Absolute Antibody has
engineered the antibodies into new recombinant formats and made
them available to a wider scientific audience via an online reagents
catalog. For example, they are now available in a human format for use
as serological controls, mouse and rabbit formats for detection applica-
tions, and sheep formats to enable better comparisons to traditional
antivenom. Scientists can also request the antibodies in custom spe-
cies, isotypes, and subtypes.

Extracellular Matrix for Organoid Culture
Corning Matrigel matrix for organoid culture is an optimized extracell-
ular matrix that reduces the need for time-consuming screening while
providing the reproducibility and consistency essential for organoid
research. It is verified to support the growth and differentiation of
mouse and human organoids, including long-term expansion of mouse
small intestinal organoids for more than seven passages with typical
organoid budding morphology and marker expression, and growth and
differentiation of polarized 3D organoids from primary human airway
epithelial cells expressing typical markers. Each lot is measured for
matrix stiffness, a property that supports organoid workflow. Addition-
ally, each lot is qualified to form stable “3D dome” structures commonly
used in organoid culture. It has also been demonstrated to successfully^
grow organoids from both healthy and diseased cell origins.

Intestinal Organoids
DefiniGEN has identified induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived
intestinal organoids that could be used to help structure in vitro stud-
ies of the biology of SARS-CoV-2 infection across cohorts of multiple
patients. These organoids display a polarized epithelium and harbor
a mixture of cell types normally present in the primary intestinal epithe-
lium barrier in vivo, including goblet cells, Paneth cells, enterocytes,
LRG5+ stem cells, and enteroendocrine cells. The organoids polarize,
form crypt structures, and grow villi at the apical surface, and are
shown to secrete mucus in a similar manner to primary human gut
tissue. Several studies have proven that angiotensin-converting enzyme
2 (ACE2) expression in host cells is required for SARS-CoV-2 recognition
and infection. Activity of membrane proteases such as transmembrane
protease, serine 2 (TMPRSS2) cleaves the coronavirus’s spike protein
and facilitates the membrane fusion with the host cell. Human intestine
is one of the few human tissues with high expression of both ACE2 and
TMPRSS2 and is therefore a good candidate to study COVID-19 and the
mechanisms of the SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Sterilization Systems
AMS Biotechnology offers a trio of sterilization systems suitable for
disinfecting everything from small laboratory instruments to large
research facilities. These compact sterilizers use a mixture of ozone
and UV to kill pathogenic organisms, including viruses, bacteria, and
fungi. The CoolCLAVE Plus is a unique, innovative laboratory bench top
sterilizer that is highly effective in keeping sterile, or sterilizing contami-
nated pipettes, pipette tips, gloves, plates, small instruments, and even
personal items such as keys, glasses, wallets, and small purses. The
Ozilla Ozone Sterilizer is a high-quality, compact, and purpose-built
ozone gas generator that can eliminate airborne and surface contami-
nants and germs. The FirstResponder Sterilizer is a portable system
that kills 99.999% of 650 different kinds of pathogenic organisms
(bacteria and fungi) in as little as 60 min and can be used to sterilize
ambulances, vehicles, and medical research facilities.

Anti-Ipilimumab Antibodies
Bio-Rad Laboratories introduces recombinant, monoclonal anti-
idiotypic antibodies, and drug–target complex binders that are specific
for ipilimumab (Yervoy) and the ipilimumab/CTLA-4 drug–target
complex. These highly specific, high-affinity antibodies are suitable for
bioanalytical and patient drug-level monitoring assays for the immune
checkpoint inhibitor ipilimumab. Ipilimumab activates the immune sys-
tem by inhibiting cytotoxic T lymphocyte–associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4),
a protein receptor that hinders the destruction of cancerous cells, to
treat cancers such as melanoma. The four anti-ipilimumab antibodies
inhibit the binding of the drug to its target, CTLA-4, and therefore detect
free drug. These antibodies are suitable for developing pharmacoki-
netic (PK) bridging ELISAs and for use as surrogate positive controls (or
reference standards) for anti-drug antibody assays. The drug–target
complex binder specifically recognizes the ipilimumab/CTLA-4 complex
and can be used as the detection antibody in a PK antigen capture as-
say as an alternative format to the bridging ELISA.
