LIVERPOOL V ASTON VILLA

Tyrone Mings says there is still great belief in the
Aston Villa dressing-room as Dean Smith’s side
approach the final six games of the Premier League
season.
Talking to the club’s TV channel, the England centre-
back said: “There is a long way to go so everybody
has to believe and we have to get through this period.
Liverpool are worthy champions and they are an
exceptionally good team, so we’ll have to be right on
top our game.”

MINGS:

WE KEEP BELIEVING

Alisson Becker is targeting
more trophies with Liverpool
after adding the Premier
League title to his impressive
list of honours.
The goalkeeper’s clean-
sheet against Crystal Palace
here eleven days ago saw
him move to the top of the
Premier League’s Golden
Gloves standings with 12
shut-outs, and he told the
club website that he and
his team-mates want more
silverware.

“We did already something
special for this club, but
you can see from what
every player says inside
the dressing-room that we
want to do more. This is our
desire: we want to win more
titles for this club, win more
individual awards. We want to
be the best team and the best
version of ourselves.
“The sky is the limit so we
need to keep pushing. We
look forward for the next
challenge.”

ALISSON:

WE KEEP PUSHING

We don’t often get the opportunity to
wish a happy birthday to Reds whose
birthdays fall in early July so we’d like to
send our best wishes to defender Dejan
Lovren who celebrates his 31st today.
Our columnist Gary Gillespie, a member
of the Reds’ previous title-winning
squad in 1990, will also be celebrating
today as he turns 60. In addition,
Liverpool’s head of goalkeeping John
Achterberg turns 49 on Wednesday
and Adam Lallana will be 32 on Friday.
Many happy returns to all!

Reds right-back Nathaniel
Clyne has left the club
following the expiration of
his contract last Tuesday.
Signed under Brendan
Rodgers from Southampton
in the summer of 2015, he
went on to play 103 games for
the Reds, scoring twice and
providing four assists. It was
his goal that helped Jürgen
Klopp claim his first Anfield
win as Liverpool manager,
settling a League Cup
fourth-round tie against
Bournemouth in
October 2015.
The 29-year-old has
seen his opportunities halted
by a succession of injuries
in recent seasons and we
wish him every success in his
future career.
