Liverpool FC - UK - Match Liverpool x Aston Villa (2020-07-05)

We did it! After 30 years of waiting, we did it!
This Premier League win will go down in history for
so many reasons, not just because of the long wait
we’ve endured to get here but the circumstances of
the season.
The title is richly deserved and one where I’m glad we
had the opportunity to confirm ourselves as genuine
and worthy winners on the pitch, albeit with your
unswerving support from afar rather than at Anfield. And
only possible thanks to our city partners Liverpool City
Council, Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Region, Spirit
of Shankly, our local community, and, of course, our army
of staff who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.
Throughout this crisis our local community has
remained at the heart of everything we do. Those whom
we serve need our help now more than ever and we’ll be
there, as I know you will too.
Merseyside PPE Hub has been a brilliant example of
how helping those in need in our city doesn’t wear club
colours – well done to Fans Supporting Foodbanks and
everyone involved in supplying over 48,000 pieces of
PPE to frontline workers.
Our own Red Neighbours and LFC Foundation teams
haven’t stopped, launching LFC Connect which offers a
'virtual cuppa' over the phone to those feeling lonely in
lockdown.

Our staff volunteers delivered treats to hospital staff,
pharmacies and carers. We provided 1,000 hot meals
a week to key workers and vulnerable people in the
community as well as running employability sessions
to help those who may have lost their jobs as a result
of the pandemic.
And collectively we were all driving donations to
support our foodbanks, providing more emergency
food-parcels across our city than ever before.
It is the vulnerable who live in our city, those
shielding and our key workers, who have given up too
much for it all to be in vain, and that’s why I wanted to
take this opportunity to reiterate a very important point
around our Premier League title achievement: please
celebrate safely.
We owe it to our city and its amazing people to avoid
this disease impacting our community any further.
Celebrating safely from home is the best way you can
show your support right now. And has Jürgen has said,
when we can celebrate, we’ll do it in style!
Now we look to finishing the season and our second
home game behind closed doors as we welcome
Aston Villa.
Stay safe and support us from home.

Peter

PLEASE CELEBRATE SAFELY
