ello to you, wherever you are when you read
this, ahead of our Premier League fixture
against Aston Villa.
Because of the obvious challenges in the region, country
and world right now, I am writing this column well before
we travel to play Manchester City and therefore cannot
reflect upon anything that has happened for us or our
opponents since then.
I welcome Dean Smith, the players and officials of Aston
Villa to Anfield today. It seems like a lifetime ago that
we first met this season, but even given all that time the
memories of that unbelievably tough game remain.
Dean has done a fantastic job and his story really is one
that makes your heart glow with warmth. He has always
been successful whichever club he has managed. And
then to have earned the opportunity to lead a club that
means so much to him is always good to see.
Their promotion last season was such a big achievement
and if I’m being honest the level of performance I see from
his side this season says to me they deserve to be in aFROM THE BOSS
