ABOVE The jaguar – here captured
as the dry season rolls into
Marismas Nacionales – is ailing,
but the fight to save it is not over.
Many organisations, such as Alianza
Jaguar AC, are working tirelessly
to safeguard the species’ future in
Mexico. In addition, with the jaguar
now listed on both Appendices of
the Convention on the Conservation
of Migratory Species of Wild
Animals, the hope is that the cat will
benefit from increased protection
and connectivity of its habitat – not
just in Mexico, but throughout its
entire range in the Americas.
