soI guessI woulddescribe it as intensely
personalmaximalism.”
Witha fewexceptions,mostofthe
furnitureis handeddownorfound
second-hand – Sarah’s favourites, the
houseplantsandrugs,areongoing
collectionsofthepast 10 years.“Though
we’reconstantlyaddingnewartworksand
othertreasurestoalltheroomsasour
collectiongrows,sothatthedetailsofthe
spaceschangeregularly,wearen’tin the
habitofreplacingbigthingsforthefunof
it,”Sarahpointsout.“Throughout 2019
wecommittedto‘a yearofnothingnew’
andonlypurchasedsecond-handgoods
forourselvesandourhome.Ourfurniture
is ourfurnitureuntil those pieces wear
outbeyonduse.”
