BOTTLED SUNSHINE
As a fair-weather self-tanner, I like products that do
the work for me, rather than having to rely on laborious
application techniques. Cue James Read’s Click & Glow
Tan Drops, £25, a concentrated gel
that’s thicker than most facial tanning
drops so it doesn’t thin whatever you
add it to, be that SPF, foundation or
moisturiser. Just a couple of drops
create radiance after a few hours,
buildable for a deeper tan. Then there’s
St Tropez Purity Vitamins Body Mist,
£31; you can simply spray it on and
leave to dry, which it does quickly
without leaving skin feeling parched
or looking streaky or muddy. Easy.THIS MONTH

During lockdown, I found that
simple pleasures (birdsong, peonies
blooming in my garden, rhubarb
crumble) took on an almost spiritual
significance. It was the same for my
beauty routine, not least because a
little self-care had never felt so vital,
so life-affirming. I took time to
massage and mask (do try Lumene’s
cooling, intensively hydrating
Oxygen Recovery 72H Hydra Gel

showering and bathing became
the ritual I am always writing about
but never actually take the time to
practise (a stretch, deep breathing,
plus indulgent products from Acqua
di Parma’s Blu Mediterraneo by

joy). Even applying my lipstick
(Chanel’s Les Beiges Lip Balm in
Warm, £31) made me feel calm and
capable. All things perhaps to reflect
on when life returns to normal,
