Many travel companies have taken steps to limit
their carbon impact in recent years, but few can
say they’ve gone as far as Roar Africa (roarafrica.
com), the high-end outfitter known for its deep
connections to conservation causes across the
continent and a reader favorite in T+L’s World’s
Best Awards. Its latest itinerary is verifiably
carbon-negative, says founder Deborah
Calmeyer, who has dreamed up an epic 14-day
adventure aboard a private jet that will shuttle
just 10 guests to the mountains of Rwanda,
Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Tanzania’s Serengeti

Island Special
When Northern Irishman and longtime Bermuda resident Roy Fellowes decided to create his own gin,
he knew exactly what shade the spirit should be: pink. “The color is synonymous with Bermuda—we’ve
got pink shorts, pink houses, pink skies, and pink sand beaches,” says Fellowes, whose Pink House Gin
launched last year and is infused with botanicals like hibiscus, mint, and blood orange. Here’s how four
Bermuda bars have incorporated the liquor into their drink menus. BY DAVID LAHUTA

Taking Flight
In Africa, an over-the-top private-jet experience
has an equally lofty mission when it comes
to conservation. BY PAUL BRADY

Plain, and Victoria Falls, with a stay in Zimbabwe.
Along the way, travelers will sleep in some of
Africa’s most luxurious lodges, including Duba
Plains Camp and Singita Kwitonda Lodge, while
offsetting the impact of their trip by funding
solar projects and clean-water infrastructure.
All profits from the inaugural flight will be donated
to wildlife and conservation initiatives. From
$125,000 per person; departs August 17, 2021.
